How to know if a lady just had sex

Men : See the how to know if Your wife or girlfriend had s.ex With another personFind below some of the give-away signs that men watch out for when women cheat on them:

7. THE SMELLThere is always a funny smell you will perceive after sex; no matter the level of personal hygiene you may have, there would always be an odor. This is because sex has its own smell. And after the meshing and grinding of two bodies on heat, you should not expect to breathe in clean air in that place.

6. THE COLOURLet it [the se-men] out and look at the color, white means he has eja-culated within the past 3 days, yellow means he hasn’t. (Some people say the color will change after time too time, you can check yourself.)

5. DEEP SLEEPWhenever your girlfriend returns from an unknown place and spend an awfully long time in the bathroom, then something is fishy. Women are always very conscious and would do everything they could to cover their tracks after sleeping with someone else other than their boyfriends. And to make matters worse, they go into a deep sleep without being drunk. Definitely, they have some serious explanations to make.

4. THEY TURN DOWN ADVANCESMen get to predict if their girlfriends just slept with someone else when they turn down their sexual advances later. Women do not like having sex when they have reached orgasm severally. The best they could do in an instance as such is to turn down the sexual advances andrest till they feel rejuvenated enough to do it.

3. WHEN HER MAKE UP IS NEATLY DONEAnother way men get to know if their girlfriends have beendoing stuffs behind them is through their appearances. Women, in a bid not to draw attention to themselves and what they have done try reapplying their makeup.

2. THEY BECOME DEFENSIVEWomen who cheat know that their boyfriends are likely to question them when they return; therefore, they are prepared for the questions and prepping they may go through.

1. THEY AVOID EYE CONTACTRemember men could never get it wrong with these signs if the girlfriends in question are women who are just starting to get into the cheating business.

Nigerian lady bleeds uncontrollably from her privates after following her “Yahoo boyfriend” to Ibadan

According to twitter user @DijiaderoGba a lady living close to his house is bleeding uncontrollably from her privates after following her ‘yahoo yahoo’ guy to Ibadan.

Read how he narrated it below… We all should be careful. No such thing as quick money.

“A girl living close to my house has been bleeding from her private part since morning. Friends said, she followed her Yahoo bf to IB on Tues.

Came back on thursday & fell ill, today ( Morning ) she started bleeding. She said her bf gave her a coconut & palmwine to drink on Tue night.

Y’all gotta be very careful. Yahoo guys are using Friends, gfs, family members etc to make this money. I feel pity for this girl, so sad.

I don’t know if some girls are just naturally greedy or gullible. These things happen every time & they hear bout it but then, dey cont.

These guys are spiritual, they spend illegal money & confidently tell you “I be Yahoo guy, Wetin you wan do’… Yahoo Yahoo is now a norm

I have heard a lot about incidents. Even guys need to be very careful Cus these Yahoo guys are ready to use anybody ( even family members ).

Sad part is, some of these girls know about their bf’s Yahoo Yahoo game but being greedy won’t allow them think straight. Love of money!”

I may run for presidency

I may run for presidency – Tinubu

Former Governor of Lagos State, and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said that he cannot rule out the possibility of running for the office of the president.

Tinubu said this while fielding questions from journalists on Friday.

The former Lagos Governor noted that running for any office in Nigeria was an opportunity to serve his country.

He said, “You see there is nothing wrong with such ambition.

“It depends on the timing and the environment and what political leadership dictates.

“I will not brush aside such an aspiration.

”It has been historical even that Buhari tried first, second, third, and fourth before he got it. Resilience, determination, and clarity of purpose.

“Maybe as a senator, maybe as a president, you cannot rule it out. How can I rule such a thing out, the opportunity to serve my country? But you only do that when there is a vacancy.”

Tinubu added that there was no rift whatsoever amongst APC leaders.

He said, “Everything has always been alright in APC camp. I credit the Nigerian creativity in journalism, they create stories, and if you have to respond to every one of it, you will be in trouble.”

Solar eclipse to occur in Nigeria on Sunday February 26

Solar eclipse to occur in Nigeria on Sunday February 26

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) said on Thursday that there would be a partial Solar eclipse across the country on Sunday.

Dr Felix Ale, Head of Media and Corporate Communications, made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

“A partial solar eclipse will be visible all over the country with different degree of totality to occur on Sunday, Feb. 26,’’ he said.

According to Ale, the highest degree of obscurity in the country during the natural occurrence will be observed in the southern part of Nigeria, particularly Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar.

He said these areas were expected to have about 33 per cent obscurity, while the lowest degree obscurity would be about nine per cent in the northern part of Nigeria, particularly in Kebbi.

Ale noted that in the South-West, the level of obscurity would be 23 per cent at about 5.42 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.

He, however, said it would be recording 28 to 30 per cent between 4.45 p.m. and 6.33 p.m. in the South-East.

He stressed that the solar eclipse would be observed across the nation, thereby making each part of the country a great site for viewing the eclipse at different degree of obscurity.

According to him, the solar disc will be covered by the moon as seen from the earth and the eclipse will be visible as much as there is clear sky without rain or cloud.

He, however, said there was no cause for alarm or reason to panic as the solar eclipse was a natural occurrence and should be seen as part of the beauties of nature.

NANS gives Shoprite, MTN, DSTV 48 hours to leave Nigeria

NANS gives Shoprite, MTN, DSTV 48 hours to leave Nigeria

TheCable reports that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given 48 hours ultimatum to all South African companies in Nigeria to relocate over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The students issued the ultimatum at a demonstration at some South African companies in Abuja on Thursday.

During the march, the students carried a banner, which read: ‘NANS Against Xenophobic Attacks on Nigerians’.

NANS’ president, Kadiri Aruna, condemned xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

“We are saying that enough is enough as South Africans have openly attacked and bullied Nigerians,” he said.

“All the South African business empires in Nigeria and their collaborators in Nigeria will be affected.

“I don’t want to say we will be barbaric but we will not be lawful in our actions.

“We will do it and face the consequences, enough of this rubbish.

“Nigeria contributed 80% of the freedom the South Africans are enjoying today.

“We saved them from the jaws of apartheid. “Who is South Africa to humiliate Nigeria?

“So they forget things so soon?

“Let them go back to history and records to see how much financial assistance and what the country did to save them.

“In science, they say you use malaria to cure malaria, now you use madness to cure their madness.

“That is why we are advising them to leave Nigerian soil before 48 hours.”

“Government should take extra-diplomatic measures in dealing with the latest deadly assaults because if nothing drastic is done it will become a regular occurrence.

“This is the time to place South Africa where it belongs.

“If they refuse to leave, we will ask Nigerian students all over the country to bring down all MTN masts.

He said the last time the xenophobic attack happened nothing was done, no action was taken and that is why they repeated it again.

JAMB fixes UTME for May, scraps scratchcard

JAMB fixes UTME for May, scraps scratchcard

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede yesterday said the much-awaited Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will hold in May as part of steps to check malpractices.

He also said the agency had handed over 10 officials to the police for investigation in connection with fraud associated with sales of scratch cards.

Prof. Oloyede said JAMB had eliminated the use of scratch cards because UTME candidates were being extorted.

He said: “For the 2017 UTME, we have taken a decision to commence the sale of the form soon. Within the next two weeks, we will be out. The reason for this is that we are making all arrangements that ought to be made. We have changed the process of payment, no more scratch card selling. We need to put the right architecture in place and we have put this in place.

“The examination will be coming up later than usual. This is to make sure we take into consideration the interest of the students. We are going to conduct the UTME in May. It will not clash with any SSCE examinations

“I did not sit here or my management did not fix the date. We sat down with all examination bodies with their timetables and we agreed to create this window.”

He said the new timing of the UTME was to check any form of malpractice, especially upgrading of results.

He said:  “Normally, we conduct our examinations around March and the results will be ready within two to three days. But when do we need the results? It is always between July and August. This gives room for all forms of suspicion. If you go on the net, you will see people claiming that they could help candidates to upgrade their results because the results are lying fallow between March and July.

“Now we want to shorten the period in such a way that the time between the examination and when the results will be used will be very short. There will be no opportunity for anybody to even dream of upgrading results.

“We are also using that opportunity to communicate with other Examination bodies like WAEC, NECO and NABTEB to ensure that we do not make our examinations mutually exclusive. Somebody is taking WAEC examinations, he wants to take JAMB but in some cases due to clash of timetable, he wants to sacrifice one for the other.

“So, we have harmonized in such a way that the period we are going to use for our examination, all other examination bodies will not have examinations during the period.

Asked how many candidates will sit for UTME this year, the Registrar said the agency is expecting about 1.7million.

“That figure (1.7m candidates) was last year’s figure and we do not expect less this year. We expect about 1.5million candidates for UTME and about 200,000 and 300,000 candidates for Direct Entry. That was how we arrived at the figure and that is the figure we are also expecting, “he said.

“I or the management will not promise a hitch-free examination because when you are doing the type of re-engineering we are doing, you cannot say that there will be no hitches. But we believe that we are on top of it and whatever problem arises, we will solve it.

“Everybody will however have fair treatment and everybody will be well-treated. This is what I can assure Nigerians.

Prof. Oloyede confirmed that 10 officials of JAMB were handed over to the Police over scratch cards-related fraud.

Oloyede went on: “What we have done is to fine tune what is being done to make our services better for the public. We have taken some very painful decisions like elimination of scratch cards. We know that some people make their living from sale of scratch cards but that is not the type of living we want to encourage because it is extortion.

“They buy the cards from our staff and they sell at exorbitant price to the users. The scratch card has a particular amount of N1, 000 or N2, 500 but they up selling the cards for four to five times the price. Apart from that, scratch card has left to massive corruption in the system.

“As I’m talking to you now, 10 members of our staff are with the police. We have handed over to the police for one corrupt practice or the other related to scratch cards.”

BREAKING: Buhari gave allegedly "Corrupt Judge" N500k during his certificate scandal - Witnes

A witness in the corruption trial of Justice Adeniyi Ademola has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari gave the embattled judge N500,000 while his certificate controversy was pending before Mr Ademola.

BREAKING: Buhari gave "Corrupt judge" N500000 during his certificate scandal - Witness speaks

The witness said the money was given through Mr. Buhari’s former lawyer, Kola Awodeyin

Premium Times reports that the witness, however, said he does not consider the money a bribe.

Ademola is being prosecuted by the Nigerian government for alleged corruption. He has denied the charges and requested accelerated hearing at the trial in Abuja‎.

The Federal Judge is being prosecuted alongside his wife, Olubowale, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joe Agi.

Regarding his certificate issue, President Buhari had not been satisfied with the ruling of Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja who on May 26, 2016 dismissed his preliminary objection in a suit filed against him by an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe.

The president, through his legal team led by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), has appealed the ruling.

He filed a notice of appeal at the Abuja judicial division of the appellate court on

Other members of the president’s legal team are Lateef O. Fagbemi (SAN), Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN), Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu (SAN), Kola Awodein (SAN), Prof. Taiwo Osipitan (SAN), Charles Edosomwan (SAN), Emeka Ngige (SAN), Femi Atoyebi (SAN), Femi Falana (SAN), Funke Aboyade (SAN), H.O. Afolabi (SAN), Muiz Banire (SAN), and 10 other counsel.
At his ruling today, Justice Ademola Adeniyi said the matter has been adjourned sine die follow the notice of appeal filed by the president.

Buhari says no cause to worry over his health status

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he needs a longer time to rest, thus putting paid to speculations and claims by top government officials that he is actually fit and healthy.

Buhari wrote to Nigerians through his aide, Femi Adesina

The president said this on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 saying the rest is deserved following the results from the series of medical tests he carried out in the United Kingdom where he is on vacation.

The president, who noted that he is staying longer than expected in the UK, reportedly stated this in a four-paragraph statement through his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.

The Punch reports that the president thanked Nigerians for their prayers, good wishes and support adding that there was no cause to be troubled.

“President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country.

“The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern.

How We Rigged Edo Governorship Election For APC – INEC Tenders Damning Evidence

How We Rigged Edo Governorship
Election For APC – INEC Tenders
Damning Evidence

The Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC, on Monday, tendered
evidence and closed its defence before
the Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal,
without calling a single witness.
The Tribunal, is sitting on a petition filed
by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
and its candidate in last year’s
September 28 Edo Governorship election,
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
The petitioners are before the Tribunal,
challenging the electoral body’s
declaration of the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, Godwin
Obaseki, as winner of the poll.
They listed INEC in the substantive
petition as respondents.
When hearing on the matter resumed on
Monday, Counsel to INEC, Onyinye
Anumonye, tendered more than 200
copies of the ward results (Form EC 8 B )
for the remaining 17 Local Government
Areas, which were admitted in evidence
and marked as exhibits.
Anumonye’s prayer to also tender a
supplement to the 2015 guidelines and
regulation for the conduct of the election,
was however, objected to by Counsel to
the petitioners, Roland Otaru.
In his objection to the admissibility of
Anumonye’s document, Otaru argued that
the Counsel to INEC, ought to have
tendered the document through a witness
at the witness box.
However, the three-man panel Chairman
of the Tribunal, Justice Ahmed Badamasi,
admitted in evidence and marked the
certified true copy of the document as
exhibit 1 R 022 .
INEC had 10 days allotted to it by the
Tribunal to open its defence, and was
expected to have called up its witnesses
during its defence.
However, its Counsel said doing such was
tantamount to wasting the Tribunal’s
time.
Justifying this position, Anumonye
explained that since the first respondent
has so far reviewed the evidence
presented, that it is of the firm believe
that it had sufficiently established a
defence to the petition, through the cross
examination of the petitioners’ witnesses
whose statements under cross
examination confirmed its case, and
particularly, the documents tendered as
exhibits.
He said: “We therefore, consider it an
unnecessary waste of the Tribunal’s
precious time, to call witnesses who
would merely repeat evidences that it had
already elicited under
cross examination.”
Recall, that last year’s Edo Gubernatorial
election, was allegedly marred with
plethora of electoral offences, including
ballot box snatching, vote buying, and
Returning Officers giving conflicting
results, among others.

OSHIOMHOLE ACCUSED OF LOOTING OVER N50BILLION FROM EDO STATE

A petition signed by civil rights activists, Bishop Dr.
Osadolor Ochie and
Marxist Kola Edokpayi has been addressed to the
Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the
immediate past governor of Edo
state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of defrauding
the State to the tune of
over N50 billion while in office as governor.
According to the petitioners, who also forwarded
copies of the petition to
the president, Mohammadu Buhari and the senate
president, Bukola Saraki,
they said 80% of contracts executed during the
Oshiomhole administration
were never advertised.
“Throughout Oshiomhole’s tenure, over 80% of
contracts that were awarded
were never advertised or made public, and the
costs were inflated.
The scheme used was called “virement,” and this
approach allowed the
governor to approve new contracts as additional
work to the tune of N99
million without advertising such contracts or
seeking the approval of the
state executive council,” the petitioners alleged.
The former governor was also alleged to have used
N5 billion for chartered
flights during his time as governor of the state.
The petitioners added that, Adams Oshiomhole
engaged in contract
splitting, where contracts for roads were awarded
along with road
infrastructures such as street lights, walk ways,
drainage which were
later re-awarded to the same contractor.
“Contract splitting amounting to N76,390,306,746
was awarded to Messrs
Hani Associates Ltd. for the preparation of the bill
of quantities for
construction and renovation of public schools
(dates of approvals of
payment 21/01/2016, 20/10/2016, 18/10/2016, and
25/10/2016),” the petition
stated.
He is also being accused of diverting funds for
security votes running
into billions of naira.
“Diversion of security votes to proxy accounts vis:
Chief M. A. Kadiri
vouchers from 2008 to the last day of the tenure of
Comrade Adams Aliu
Oshiomhole, totalling N42 billion.
Also, in December 2014 alone, Comrade Adams
Oshiomhole approved
N700million and Chief M. A. Kadiri was on hand to
sign and collect it via
attached vouchers and detailed documents,”
according to the petitioners.
The petitioners further alleged that the former
governor inflated the
price of the purchase of 2 units of Toyota Prado
TXL at N28,953,600.00.
“ Sata Motors Ltd., 3 Oyaide Street, GRA, Benin
city, purchase of 2 units
of Toyota Land Cruisers V8 at N45,031,200.”
They added, “We have at our disposal a truck load
of approvals and
vouchers if the one supplied is not enough for your
investigation and we
are prepared to supply more photographs of
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s
properties all over the world and relevant vouchers
and approvals that he
made while in office to misappropriate Edo State
funds, particularly for
the Edo University whose funds were not approved
by the Edo State House of
Assembly.
“Another issue of concern is the construction of
168 male students’ hostel
complex at the rate of N10 million per room at the
University of Science
and Technology, Uzaire awarded to Messrs A & K
Construction Ltd. at a
total cost of N1,880,483,836.66.”
Comrade Oshiomhole was also alleged by the
petitioners to have used state
fund for an on-going event centre, cinema theatre
hall and shopping mall
at finishing stage directly opposite the University of
Benin, Ugbowo,
Benin city.
They also alleged that Comrade Oshiomhole
expended N20 billion on personal
mansion at Okoro Otun and an on-going hotel being
constructed next to
Benin Club in GRA.
.
.
More allegations leveled against the former
governor, according to the
petition iclude;
.
Former Guinness Building on Reservation Road,
GRA, Benin city
.
Our investigation shows that Oshiomhole bought the
Guinness guest house
located along Reservation Road, GRA Benin City
soon after he was sworn in
as governor in 2009.
The property was quickly converted to the office of
HANI and ASSOCIATES,
the consultancy firm that has supervised all civil
construction works in
Edo State since 2008.
We are reliably informed that Governor Adams Aliu
Oshiomhole bought the
building for over N100 million.
.
Offshore Properties (USA, South Africa, London and
Dubai)
With the benefit of the global fight against
corruption, the EFCC should
investigate allegations of Oshiomhole’s acquisition
of properties in the
United States of America; which are located in
Miami, Florida and in
Louisiana (where his first son, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole
stays); as well as a
luxurious apartment valued at one hundred million
dollars at Peachtree
Corners (Miami) FL; acquisition of the Penthouse
of One and Only Hotel in
Cape Town, South Africa, as well as apartments in
Dubai, and London (UK).
.
Misappropriation of Local Government funds
Governor Adams Oshiomhole administration took
advantage of the Joint
State/Local Government Account to appropriate and
misappropriate the
monthly allocations accrued to the 18 local councils
to the disadvantages
of the chairmen and people of the local
governments.
The helpless chairmen could not complain openly
because their election or
appointment and tenure are at the mercy and
discretion of the Comrade
Governor.
The irony of this prevailing arrangement is that the
local government
council chairmen were cajoled to take responsibility
for the expenditures
they never made, in the first place; like the
purchase of inflated SUVs.
The Commissioner for Finance and that of Local
Government deducted their
accounts at source.
This sort of irresponsible and unnecessary
expenditure, which is prevalent
in the administration of the local government
councils in Edo State, led
to the inability of councils to pay the salaries of
their staffs until the
bailout offered by the Federal Government.
It will interest you to know that the 18 local
government areas in Edo
State have in the last 6 years received over N212
billion as statutory
allocation.
We believe these breaches deserve investigation.
.
Supply of School Desks and Chairs
The state government, through the Ministry of
Education awarded a contract
in November 2009, worth N1,547,910,000.00 (One
Billion, Five Hundred and
Forty-Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Ten
Thousand Naira only), to Itex
Furniture Limited of Plot 512, Cadastral Zone C16,
Idu Industrial
District, FCT, Abuja, for the supply of 35,000 units
of single seaters
(chairs and desks) and 40,000 units of double
seaters (chairs and desks)
to all public schools in Edo State.
The contract was purportedly “completed” and a
completion certificate
issued for full payment for the job, which only a
middle-level staff of
the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
inspected at the Abuja
factory of Itex Furniture Limited in 2011 (two years
after the contract
was awarded).
Due diligence was not made to verify whether the
advance payment
guarantee/performance bond provided by Itex were
ever authenticated or the
quality and quantity of 75,000 units verified too,
before the full payment
for this supply of this school furniture in 2012.
On Friday, April 4, 2014 (two years after the
purported supply of 75,000
units by Itex Furniture Limited), the state‘s Ministry
of Education placed
an advert on page 16 of the Vanguard newspaper,
requesting for bids, for
the “construction and supply of schools desks and
chairs for all Schools
in Edo state”.
Sources in the Ministry averred that the advert was
a mere window-dressing
as the advertised contract had been awarded to
the same Itex Furniture.
No due diligence was made to find out whether the
initial 75,000 units
were manufactured and supplied. The contracts
eventually snowballed into
paid advertorial contest between ITEX and the state
government.
However, most schools in Edo State have no chairs
and desk.
It is instructive to state here that the pioneer
chairman of the State
Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) under
Oshiomhole’s administration,
Sir Emoabino and a former Secretary to the State
Government to Gov. Adams
Oshiomhole, Dr. Imuokheme, were arrested and
tried by EFCC for fraud
totaling N300million.
The Subeb contractors were criminally directed to
pay part of their
payments proceeds to Oshiomhole’s campaign
account in 2011.
.
N1.172Billion Certificate of Occupancy Waiver/
Dangote Cement shares
On June 1, 2013, Governor Oshiomhole granted
Alhaji Aliko Dangote a
staggering N1,089,530,370.00 (One Billion, Eighty
Nine Million, Five
Hundred and Thirty Thousand, Three Hundred and
Seventy Naira) waiver for a
Certificate of Occupancy.
Also on the same day, another waiver of
N81,763,200.00 (Eighty-One
Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty Three thousand,
Two Hundred Naira) to
Alhaji Dangote, all for the land allocated to the
billionaire for a
proposed Dangote Fertilizer Factory at Agenebode
in Etsako East Local
Government Area.
The so called factory never saw the light of the
day.
.
Conversion of Edo University to Privately-Owned
Insitution
Oshiomhole has spent over N30 billion of state
funds on infrastructure in
the Edo University he built opposite his country
home in Iyamho, which
documents have revealed is a privately owned
university by private
partners, fronting for the governor.
.
Sapele Road N600 Million Street Light Cotract
In 2012, Governor Oshiomhole awarded the
contract for erection of street
lights from 3rdJunction (Sapele Road) to Country
Home Road Junction
(Sapele Road), a distance of less than 2KM for
N600 million.
Sadly, this work was never executed.
.
The N950 Million Contract for the Beautification of
5-Junction in Uselu,
Lagos Road
The sum of N950million was approved by the exco
as cost for the
beautification project, which was just planting of
flowers.
.
Edo State Government and the Bank of Industry
Counterpart Fund Scheme
In December 2009, Edo State Government signed an
agreement with the Bank
of Industry to support Small Scale Industries with
N500 million; made up
of N250 million from the state and N250 million
from the Bank of Industry.
According to Edo State government records, only
N41.6 million was
reportedly disbursed.
However, credible sources informed us that the
balance of N458.5 million
(approximately) has vanished into private pockets.
.
$225 Million World Bank Loan and Edo State Open
Governmnt Initiative
In 2012, Edo State Government received $75 million
as first tranche of
$225 million loan from the World Bank under the
first Edo State Growth and
Employment Support Credit Project (with the
Project Identification Number
P123353).
Till date, government is unable to account for the
initial $75 million and
another $75 million that was approved by the World
Bank in 2015, despite
massive protests by Edo people and senators from
the state.
We are informed that the unsubstantiated contracts
that were tied to the
loan led to the resignation of Ms. Yemi Keri who
was the Managing Director
of the Information Communication Technology
office in the Governor’s
Office.
The computerization of government activities by
the Directorate of ICT in
the Governor’s Office was used to syphon
resources from the state.
The second tranche of $75 million which was
domiciled at Access Bank has
largely been transferred to offshore accounts while
the remaining was
round-tripped at the detriment of Edo state.
.
Accident and Emergency/200 Bed Central Hospital
and Iyamho Country Home
Projects
An initial contract was awarded to an Italian
company, for the sum of N2.7
billion before it was reviewed upwards to over N3
billion when Governor
Oshiomhole demanded for an extra floor; a process
that made a large part
of the construction within the premises of the
Central Hospital, Benin
City, to collapse on June 4, 2012.
Many workers were injured with a lone casualty, Dr.
Stefano De La Roca,
the owner of the company and confidant of Adams
Oshiomhole.
The contract was later re-awarded to SCL without
penalizing those
responsible for the building collapse. The cost of
the reconstruction is a
closely guarded secret.
What many did not know at the period was that SCI
was also the contractor
handling Oshiomhole’s multi-billion naira sprawling
palatial complex at
Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area.
The umbilical cord or nexus between the medical
complex projects in Benin
City and the astonishing Mobutu Sese Seko country
home project of the
Comrade Governor is far more than a coincidence
as SCI was the main
contractor for both sites and most, if not all, of the
construction
materials and workers shared a common pool.
.
Roads, Drains and Bridges
The flagship of road construction, re-construction
and rehabilitation
projects done by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is
the six-lane Airport Road,
Benin City.
The contract was originally awarded to Servetek
Construction Company
Limited to handle the “construction of drainage
structures and dualization
of Airport Road from Ring Road to Ogba River
Bridge (a distance of 7.2Km
of road and 14.4Km of drainage” at an industry
record-setting N611million
per kilometers, totaling N4,401,101,722.50).
In a fit of anger over Servetek’s reluctance to allow
any further
tampering with the contractual sum, the contract
was truncated and
re-awarded at over N12 billion to Setraco Nigeria
Limited.
It is instructive to note that the state government
ingeniously padded the
original contract description with “17 access roads”
that ran parallel to
Airport Road whereas these roads (access and
internal roads such as the
Shittu Alao Airforce Base, Oko-Ogba for instance),
were re-awarded as
stand-alone ones, with new cost tags.
This organized rape of Edo State treasury was
replicated in the award and
execution of the over 100 intra and inter-city road
projects that were
turned into veritable Automated Teller Machines
(ATMs).
One of such roads is Sapele Raod, awarded to
Setraco for N
1,429,446,044.25 for a length of 2.1km.
Even the “detailed design of storm water drainage
and associated roads
master plan for Benin City was awarded to a South
African Firm for a
whopping sum of N 446,969,250.02.
The pattern of sleaze ran through all the contracts
he awarded and
financed through suffocating portfolio of debts that
future generations of
Edolites will inherit and pay.
Setraco and Hartland Nig Ltd both companies
chaired by Abu Inu Umoru, a
close associate of Adams Oshiomhole are the
major beneficiaries of
inflated road contracts in Edo State.
.
The N31Billion Storm Water Project
On April 11, 2011, Governor Adams Oshiomhole
went ahead to borrow N25
billion from the capital market through the issuance
of bonds.
While presenting an FCMB cheque of N6 billion to
Mr. Saad, the managing
director of Hitech Construction on March 2, 2011,
Oshiomhole listed
several roads as part of the First Phase of the
Storm Water Project to
include Adolor College Road, Textile Mile Road,
Otote Road, Uwelu Road,
Akugbe Street, Iyoba areas among others.
These roads are still earth roads today; just the
Storm water project has
been abandoned by Hitech and the gullies they left
have killed over six
persons, including children.
We are also aware that when Adams Oshiomhole
went to the capital market to
borrow 25 billion facilitated by Godwin Obaseki’s
Afrivest company, the
purpose of the loan was not just the storm water
project but also included
a power project.
The Azural Power Project has since started in Edo
State but without the
government being a major investor apart from the
paltry shares given to it
by the promoters as compensation for the land
acquired.
Curiously, Philip Ihenacho the original founder of
Afrivest, the same
company Godwin Obaseki, Oshiomhole’s close ally
owns, is a major investor
in the Azura Power Project.
Edo people believe that they have been
shortchanged in this Azura
Holdings, and what should have been Edo State
shares have been allocated
to private individuals holding brief for those who
have abused the
people’s trust.
.
Ewohimi General Hospital Project
Construction of Ewohimi General Hospital in Edo
Central has gulped over an
additional N200 million through the bogus practice
of ‘virement’.
Oshiomhole’s brother in-law, Mr. Victor Eboigbe,
allegedly coordinated the
hospital project.
His company was also reported in the press to
have supplied Dando water
drilling rigs and two street sweepers to Edo State
government for inflated
contract sums of N800 million and N356 million
respectively.
.
Construction of Hostel Block at N10M Per Room at
Iyamho University
Governor Oshiomhole awarded the contract and the
payment in a week for the
construction of 168 hotel rooms in Edo University
Iyamho at the sum of
N1.680 billion (one billion, six hundred and eighty
million naira).
The average cost per room translates to N10
million (ten million naira)
per hostel room.
The firm, A & K Construction Limited was also
awarded additional contract
worth N12,282,852,413.69 (twelve billion, two
hundred and eighty two
million, eight hundred and fifty thousand, four
hundred and thirteen
naira, sixty kobo) to construct Edo State Teaching
Hospital at the
University of Science and Technology, Uzairue, Edo
State (Iyamho
University).

igerian army warns Biafra agitators, labels them criminal gang as it denies killing protesters

Nigerian army warns Biafra agitators, labels them criminal gang as it denies killing protesters

The Nigerian army has come out strongly against Biafra agitators otherwise known as Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB saying the force will no longer accept any form of false allegation of brutality by its personnel from them

This warning came from the 6 Division of the Nigeria Army, Port Harcourt.

Premium Times reports that the warning was in response to allegations from the professed media and publicity secretary of IPOB who claimed that the Nigerian soldiers killed 11 IPOB members on January 20 during a solidarity rally in Port Harcourt to celebrate the election of Donald Trump of America.

The army who described the secessionist group as a “criminal gang” said soldiers deployed to ensure peace on the street restrained themselves from firing a single shot despite provocations from the protesters.

According to the spokesperson of the Division, Aminu Iliyasu, “The allegation is false, malicious and existed in the figment of his imagination,” the colonel said.

“We therefore wish to warn Mr. Emma Powerful and other like minded mischief makers that the Nigerian Army will no longer tolerate such spurious and unfounded allegations that are injurious to the hard-earned image and reputation of the Nigerian Army, its selfless and dedicated officers and soldiers by any group of criminals regardless of their appellation.”

Going further, the army spokesperson insisted that on the said day:“Members of the group were mobilized from Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Cross River States for an alleged rally with dubious intent of molesting innocent citizens, intimidating passers-by and wrecking havoc on commuters thereby disturbing public peace, safety and security.

“The choice of Port Harcourt (the Garden City) as the epicentre of the protest has left much to be desired. It is however worthy to restate that one of the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian Army is to come to the aid of the civil authority whenever the need arises. In line with this constitutional mandate, troops of 29 Battalion Nigerian Army, were deployed in conjunction with other sister security agencies to prevent any loss of life or property with strict adherence to the established Rules of Engagement.

“Despite all provocative attempts occasioned by the stoning of security agents and the smashing of commuters’ windscreens by the violent protesters, troops refused to be cajoled into the criminal gang’s trap to fire a single shot. This is indicative of the troops’ total compliance with their Rules of Engagement. The violent protest was subsequently subdued with the use of tear gas and arrests were made by a sister security agency with no casualty recorded on either side.

“It is however worrisome and disturbing for anyone to falsely accuse troops deployed in support of civil authority who conducted their duty professionally under the beaming lenses of cameras of allegedly killing 11 citizens of our great country. A well observed trend of this criminal gang is the malicious posting of old videos and pictures from their archives on social media platforms which has no bearing on their claims to attract public sympathy and whip sentiments among the citizenry.

“To this end, Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, wishes to inform the public that the allegation is not true and should be dismissed as mere propaganda by the separatist group. We wish to restate our total commitment to the protection of lives and properties within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

“We therefore solicit the cooperation and understanding of all peace loving citizens and further enjoin them to join hands to help eradicating all forms of criminality within Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Delta States. This will no doubt enhance mutual co-existence, peace and socio-economic development of the region.”

As agitators are calling for the Biafra nation, watch this video of Nigerian history rendered in poetic form.

Prophet TB Joshua urges Nigerians to pray for President Buhari

The revered prophet released some prophecies to his congregation on Sunday, February 19 which was broadcast live on the SCOAN’s official TV station – Emmanuel TV.

He particularly focused on the health challenges of President Muhammadu Buhari, urging Nigerians to pray for their leader.

His words: “I have some burning issues which I want to share with you. Your president has good intentions, but good intentions cannot be carried out alone without good followers.

“The priority of every Nigerian citizen now is the good health of your president because it can be anyone’s turn tomorrow. What you wish for others, God makes happen to you.

“More importantly, we also have to rise up and pray that the Lord should give us the grace to sustain democracy. Pray for an uninterrupted democracy.”

He noted that some Nigerians might not be comfortable with his statements, but added he was “okay with that”.

He called on his congregants to rise up in prayer for President Muhammadu Buhari, praying specifically for “strength where is weakness”.

Speaking on Nigeria’s democracy, Prophet Joshua said: “More importantly, we also have to rise up and pray that the Lord should give us the grace to sustain democracy. Pray for an uninterrupted democracy.”

According to Charly Boy, Nigerians should direct their anger at politicians who have ''stolen their future.''

President Buhari has been in London since January 19. The presidency had first announced that he was there for a 10-day leave. But on medical grounds prompting speculations that all may not be well with him.

Dare-devil kidnappers have reportedly abducted a lieutenant in the Nigerian Army in Abule Ado area of FESTAC town, Lagos state in the evening of Monday, February 20.

This is despite the death sentence for kidnapping signed into law by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode recently.

The lieutenant simply identified as Diya was said to have led a team of soldiers to patrol the FESTAC area when heavily armed men attacked them.

Diya, the military officer, was reportedly kidnapped in Lagos

The abduction of Diya was said to have caused serious tension in FESTAC town as military officers and members of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC) commenced a search-and-rescue effort.

The shooting was on at the time of this report as a resident was quoted as saying: “The operation is ongoing now at Abule Ado and FESTAC town simultaneously.

DALLAS (AP) — ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson, President-elect Donald Trump's choice to lead the State Department, has close ties to Russia through years of deal-making that will serve as valuable experience — but also raise concerns.

Tillerson has claimed to have a "very close relationship" with Russian President Vladimir Putin and will have deep knowledge of the country's power structure, having led ExxonMobil into a rare oil exploration deal with Russia's state-owned energy company.

His ties, however, could cast a shadow over important decisions on relations with Russia, from whether to extend sanctions to the handling of intelligence reports that Russia interfered with the U.S. presidential election to help Trump.

As an oil executive, Tillerson has argued against sanctions that the U.S. and European allies imposed on Russia after it annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014.

The sanctions are aimed against key sectors of the Russian economy, including financial services, energy, mining and defense, but also individuals in Putin's inner circle. Experts say that if they remain in the long term, the sanctions could affect Exxon's joint venture with Russia's state oil company.

A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, 64-year-old Tillerson is a career Exxon employee, having joined the company after graduating from the University of Texas in 1975 with an engineering degree. Groomed for an executive position, he spent years in the rough-and-tumble world of oil production, working in Exxon's central U.S., Yemen and Russian operations.

By the 1990s, Tillerson was overseeing many of Exxon's foreign operations. He played a key role in Exxon's involvement in the huge Sakhalin oil and natural gas project on Russia's eastern coast. That was a warm-up for a $3.2 billion deal in which Exxon and Russian state-controlled Rosneft announced they would work together to explore for oil in Russia's Arctic region.

In 2011, Tillerson flew to the Russian resort town of Sochi to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for the announcement. As news photographers recorded the scene, the men shook hands and smiled broadly at each other.

"This project promises to be highly interesting and ambitious," Putin said at the time.

Success in Russia required aligning the company's interests with those of the Russian government, mettle, and good relations with Putin. Exxon steadily expanded its Russian business while its rivals faced expropriation and regulatory obstacles. In 2013, Putin awarded Tillerson the Order of Friendship, an honor given to foreigners who improve relations with Russia.

"My relationship with Vladimir Putin, which dates back almost 15 years now, I've known him since 1999 and have a very close relationship with him," Tillerson said in a speech a few years ago.

Like other oil companies, Exxon has had to develop its own diplomacy and foreign relations, so many skills Tillerson honed at Exxon could help in his new role, said Antoine Halff, head of the global oil markets program at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy.

Exxon also has operations in Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, and many other countries, from the Arctic Circle to the southern tip of Australia. Africa and Asia were its leading sources of oil production in 2015.

Tillerson became Exxon's CEO on Jan. 1, 2006, and is expected to retire next year. His heir apparent, Darren Woods, has been in place for a year, so there would be virtually no disruption to Exxon's succession plans.

In 2015, Exxon valued Tillerson's compensation at $27.3 million, most of it in stock. At the end of 2015, he held awards that had not yet vested that were worth $149.2 million.

As secretary of state, by law, he would have to either sell his Exxon shares and stock options or recuse himself from government matters that have a "direct and predictable" effect on his financial interests, said Richard W. Painter, a University of Minnesota corporate law professor who served as President George W. Bush's chief ethics lawyer. Failure to do one or the other would likely result in criminal charges, since Cabinet members, unlike the president and vice-president, are covered by statutes designed to prevent conflicts of interest.

If Tillerson didn't sell the stock, he would have to stay out of decisions for a wide swath of the secretary's job including climate change matters, the oil industry or many dealings with Russia. "There are going to have to be some pretty broad recusals in the State Department on anything that involves oil," Painter said. "In my view, personally, it's unacceptable to have a secretary of state who has a lot of oil company stock or stock options."

Putting the stock in a blind trust would not be allowed because it would remain a financial interest for Tillerson, Painter said.

Still, it's not unheard of for a high-profile businessman to serve as secretary of state.

Bechtel, the big, privately held San Francisco engineering and construction firm, gained stature and prestige when President Ronald Reagan picked George Shultz as secretary of state and Caspar Weinberger as secretary of defense. Both had been top Bechtel executives.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - JetBlue Airways Corp on Tuesday said it was earning more from checked bag fees and higher-priced fares than expected and plans to double the money it will return to shareholders via stock buybacks.

The New York-based airline said that new fares and fees for add-ons it rolled out last year, including a $20 checked bag charge for its lowest-fare customers, generated an expected $260 million in 2016, versus a prior forecast of $200 million.

As part of the windfall, the carrier is expanding its share repurchase program to $500 million from $250 million through 2019.

JetBlue shares jumped 5 percent in early Tuesday trade as unit revenue guidance released during after-market hours on Monday was better than investors had expected.

JetBlue also said it would generate up to $300 million in annual cost savings by 2020 through several initiatives, including up to $65 million from evaluating suppliers and spending at airports and automating more of the customer experience from check-in to boarding.

Staff, once constrained to stay behind a counter, will be free to approach customers who need help most, interim Chief Financial Officer Jim Leddy said in an interview.

The change is not about headcount and will "not necessarily" result in fewer hours or lower pay for employees, he said.

Cost savings also include about $20 million per year from reviewing agreements with online travel agencies, JetBlue said.

"We're very frustrated there's just no way to get across the real value of a JetBlue experience versus flying any of our competitors," Marty St. George, JetBlue's executive vice president of commercial and planning, said during the same interview. "Frankly, I think that getting back towards a direct model is probably a better solution for us."

For months, airlines have tried to draw passengers away from low-price comparison sites and back to their own home pages. They see customizing travel packages with airport lounge access, extra legroom or hotel stays as the area where revenue has the most room to grow.

The airlines' efforts have put them at odds with some online travel agencies that do not allow for upselling beyond the base airfare. It also has drawn ire from consumer advocates who say airlines are attempting to hamper comparison shopping and boost prices.

Tambuwal, Dangote, Sultan flag off Rice Outgrowers Scheme in Goronyo LGA

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal along with the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Wednesday flagged off a rice outgrowers' scheme which will cover 25,000 hectres of farmland across some selected local government areas of Sokoto state.

Speaking at the site of the event which held in Goronyo Dam, Dangote said the project will within the next three years produce at least one million tonne of high quality parboiled rice for Nigerian market.

He said to achieve this, his company plans to cultivate 160,000 hectres of irrigable rice farmland in selected states, including Sokoto, which will be cultivated to grow paddy during two cropping-season per year.

"With this, we hope to achieve a minimum yield of five to six tonnes per hectre. Our plans is to off-take not less that 80 percent of the paddy produced by the outgrowers. We will also develop our own farm operations to include seed multiplication capabilities," he added.

According to him, Dangote Rice Limited aims to boost the local economy, create jobs along the value and make a significant contribution to the transformation of subsistence farms into market-oriented agribusinesses.

In his remarks, Tambuwal commended Dangote for siting the project in Sokoto State, saying the renewed efforts of his administration in the sector has started yielding the desired result.

The Governor said education and agriculture have remained the two top sectors in the priority list in the state in the last two years, revealing that this year, Sokoto has allocated more to agriculture than all states of the federation.

"We have had series of visits to different countries and signed various MoUs with many organisations and entities, Dangote inclusive, with a view to uplifting agriculture in the state.

"So the Dangote Rice Project in Sokoto State will not only provide food security and employment to our teeming unemployed youths, it would ensure the overall development of agricultural activities in the state," he added.

Tambuwal assured that all necessary incentives have been put in place to ensure smooth operation of the scheme.

In his remarks, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, urged the people to embrace this opportunity to improve their farming technique and standards of living.

He said the people of Sokoto are grateful for the opportunity and will mobilise needed resources to ensure its success.

Man marries his 40-year-old mother as she is expecting his child

L woman and her son decided to get married
She is expecting his child
- They had to leave their village because the council
did not approve of this union
A village in Zambia has encountered a stunning
situation which made a mother and her son leave
their hometown for an unknown location. It turns
out they had decided to get married, and she is
expecting his child… her grandchild?
40-years old Mbereko, who widowed 12 years ago,
and 23-year-old Farai Mbereko claim they are in
love with each other, and when she got pregnant,
they decided take their relationship to the next
level.
Six months into her pregnancy, Mbereko decided it
was better to “marry” her son because she does not
want to marry her late husband’s other brothers,
who have been looking to get her as a wife.
The village court was completely stunned last week
after hearing about Mbereko’s affair with her son,
which began three years ago. She claims she spent
a lot of money sending Farai to school, and that
she now feels she has a right to his money, and not
another woman.
“Look, I struggled alone to send my son to school
and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is
working and you accuse me of doing something
wrong. Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she
told the village court council.
Farai was more than willing to marry his mother,
and even told his mother’s family he was going to
pay off part of the lobola his father still owed them
when he passed away. “I know my father died
before he finished paying the bride price and I am
prepared to pay it off,” he said.
The man adds that “it is better to publicize what is
happening because people should know that I am
the one who made my mother pregnant. Otherwise
they will accuse her of promiscuity.”
Local headman Nathan Muputirwa was not that
agreeable with this arrangement. “We cannot allow
this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya,
(This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would
have to be killed but today we cannot do it because
we are afraid of the police,” he said, warning the
couple to immediately break off their marriage or
leave his village, which they did.

“PREMARITAL SEX IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE NO WOMAN IS TRULY HAPPY WITHOUT GOOD SEX” – ACTRESS EKEZIE

Nollywood actress, Chinazo Ekezie, made the disclosure in
her recent interview with Star Tracker. When asked for her
take on premarital sex, she said: “You want my pastor to call
me on the phone, right? .
But I will tell you the truth now, growing up, we were always
taught that we shouldn’t have sex, we shouldn’t do anything
before marriage, but now that I know better, or now that I’m
grown and with the kind of experiences that I’ve had, and
that of other people, I think it’s kind of important to have
premarital sex. .
Seriously, because you have your lifetime to spend with this
person, so I think it’s important you need to find out what
they like, how they like it, if they like it, if they are teachable,
because some people will tell you that if you don’t like how
your husband makes love to you then you teach him.
A lot of men are not teachable, a lot of men think teaching
them how to make love to their wife is a crime. Yes, a lot of
men think it’s a crime for a woman to say don’t do it this
way, do it that way, aren’t you a woman, why should you
have a preference? .
A lot of couples’ sexuality don’t match, no matter how hard
you try, and once you marry and you are not having good sex
I don’t think you will be happy. I don’t think any woman
would be happy if she’s not having good sex with her
husband, it’s crazy. And if I’m to spend the first 6-7years
teaching you how to have sex with me, I’ll be frustrated.”

Nigerian man breaks down in tears after discovering 32-year-old ‘son’ isn’t his child .
.
A middle aged Nigerian man has discovered that a young man he raised from birth and who is now 32 years old is not his biological son, after all. .
.
The Nigerian man who resides in the United Kingdom, Mr. Oscar, was forced to arrange for a DNA test to determine the paternity of his erstwhile son, Valentine, when his wife allegedly told their presumed son that Oscar was not likely to be Valentine’s biological father. .
.
Valentine had dragged his supposed dad, Oscar, to a DNA test centre in Britain after his mother informed him a month ago that the man who had brought him up for the last 32 years may not actually be his dad. .
.
As a doting father, Oscar had brought Valentine to England from Nigeria and put him through school. When the result of the DNA test was read to him, Oscar wailed in agony as the results said there was “no per cent chance” he and Valentine were father and son. .
.
Oscar wailed in despair as he asked: “He’s not my son?” Valentine was speechless. Crdt: Mirror UK

True story behind Valentine

Valentine is all about the exchange of gifts and romance,
right? Well, it is not so.
It all started with a kind-hearted, humble priest named
Valentine. During his time, there was an emperor in Rome
named Claudius who persecuted/tortured Christians. He
made a law that prohibited marriages and engagements in
Rome. This is because he had difficulty getting soldiers to
join his military leagues. Claudius believed that Roman
men were unwilling to join the army because of their
strong attachment to their wives and families. He also
reasoned that single men made better soldiers and fought
better than those with wives, saying that if they are
married, they would be afraid of what might happen to
their wives and family if they died in battle. So, he banned
marriage for young men.
Valentine, realising the injustice of the decree, defied
Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young
lovers in secret. Valentine was eventually caught,
imprisoned and tortured for performing marriage
ceremonies against the command of Emperor Claudius
and for protecting Christians.
While in prison, Valentine met Asterius, who was to judge
him in line with the Roman law at the time. Asterius had a
daughter named Julia who was blind. Valentine prayed
and healed the young girl. This had an astonishing effect
on Asterius, who became a Christian as a result.
In the year 269 AD, Valentine was sentenced to a three-
part execution of a beating, stoning, and finally beheaded,
all because of his stand for Christian marriage.
Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote Julia a letter
signed “From your Valentine,” this inspired today’s
romantic expression- ‘your valentine’. It was said that the
content of his letter was an advice to Julia that she
should be very close to God.
Saint Valentine’s martyrdom (death) has not gone
unnoticed by the general public; although many people
celebrate valentine without any understanding of what it
means and what it stands for. We find people, especially
the young ones celebrating it the wrong way- they see it
as a time to get a man/woman/boy/girl to celebrate with
by doing all kinds of ungodly things- if Saint Valentine was
alive, I believe he will not be happy, the way people have
misunderstood his sacrifice for humanity to sustain
reproduction through marriage. Most people are not
learning the lesson of self-sacrifice in fulfilment of one’s
destiny which valentine stands for.
The celebration of Saint Valentine did not have any
romantic connotations until sometimes later in the 14th
century, when people started to make it a romantic
celebration. Earlier beliefs were focused
on sacrifice rather than romantic love.
Lessons:
1. The idea of encouraging young lovers to marry within
the Christian church was what Saint Valentine stood
for, he didn’t encourage sexual immorality at all.
Rather, his action was to discourage sex outside
marriage and all kinds of immorality which botht
married and single have now turned valentine to
mean.
2. He performed marriages for those ready for marriage,
knowing that sex outside of marriage is a sin against
one’s body and against God.
3. Valentine was a saint and not a sinner- why then do
people make him seem like an encourager of sin by
celebrating him in sin.
4. If you’re not married then desist from sex. If married,
be faithful to your husband/wife. This is what
Valentine stands for-
5. Valentine is about doing God’s will. God Himself
instituted marriage, not premarital sex and other
sexual activities outside marriage. Valentine upholds
God’s wish for people who are willing, to marry and
have children.
6. Saint Valentine healed Julia, the blind girl and her
Father became a Christian- Why aren’t people believing
God for such power to do good, and God being
glorified through them, making many to come to
believe in Jesus?
7. Saint Valentine gave his life so that young couples
could be bonded together in holy matrimony. They may
have killed the man, but not his spirit. Valentine
teaches sacrifice for the right thing, even unto death.
Willing to do the right thing at all times. Why are we
not learning this lesson?
8. Centuries after his death, the story of Valentine’s self-
sacrifice and commitment was legendary in Rome. You
too should live a life committed to a good course and
the world will remember you for good.
9. Whenever valentine is celebrated, ask yourself- what
good thing have I accomplished for my generation that
I will be remembered for after my death? You are not
too small to begin to do great exploits for God, exploits
that will change your generation for good. Start from
where you are, it may start little but it will grow with
time. Peace!!!
Eventually, he was granted sainthood and the Catholic
Church decided to create a feast in his honour. They
picked February 14 as the day of celebration.
Think of fulfilling your God-given destiny on earth- that’s
the message of Valentine.
