SHOCKING: The real cause of Dagrin’s death

Dagrin’s death: It’s been six years since rapper since Olaitan Olanipekun, famously known as Dagrin passed on from injuries sustained in a ghastly car crash in Mushin, but the nation keeps talking about him. Now, new findings have revealed that the Nigerian police in the area might have been responsible for his death.

Residents in Mushin in a new interview with SaharaReporters, blamed the fatal night-time crash on the Nigerian police in Alakara station.

According to them, Policemen at the Alakara Police Command in the Mushin area of Lagos State are notorious for illegal raiding, bribery, and even escapades of what some call ‘murder at night’.

“I was there that night, and we did not even know at first that it was anyone (famous) like that. We were only helping to remove his body and to rescue him,” a young witness told the website.

“What actually happened that night was that the policemen had stopped the cement truck at the middle of road, and of course, they could only be asking for a bribe.

“Unfortunately, the truck had no rear light, (of any kind,) and so the oncoming car was unaware of any vehicle ahead. It just rammed head on, into it from the back.

“It rammed into the truck hard without holding the brakes at all, and that is because the truck in its front, had no light to show anything was there.

“So after we removed the body, we realized it was Da Grin, and he was groaning. They asked the truck driver to move forward and park out off of the road. They then moved Da Grin’s car afterwards so it would then look like he went to hit the truck where it parked.

“We were not thinking about all these as an attempt to change the story. We were only concerned about helping the victim of an accident, and by when they finished their artificial story, the world was only waiting for Da Grin’s recovery. But news broke later that he had died at the hospital.

“What made their story work was that the car did not hold its breaks, so there was no sign of screeching on the ground. Otherwise, the marks of friction from the tyres would be in the spot where it was removed, before parking it, and rearranging the scene.

“They did everything very fast, and by morning, they were no longer the cause of the accident.) Just like on Tuesday night, that they scared everyone away, and washed the blood stains of their victim within a brief period,” the young man continued.

“Of course, they caused the accident that killed Da Grin. And that is how they commit so much atrocities here in Mushin that the public will not know about, or what the truth is.

“We live here and we see them live, every time.”

The Alakara policemen are described as very apt, and swift, in immediately ‘cleaning up’ their dirty business, leaving behind little, to no evidence, of their atrocities.

differences between a 'yahoo boy' and a 'fraud boy

They are both fraudulent people, but the modern realities of pop culture mean setting them apart matters.

Yahoo boys have become a challenging part of Nigerian society. Their fraudulent activities, profligate lifestyle and the schemes pulled by international syndicates have made them the focus of anti-crime agencies in Nigeria and around the world.

The global wealth generation system of illegality and illegally obtained wealth will forever hold a staple across the world.

As such, the global wealth obtained from drugs, prostitution, trafficking, counterfeiting, bootlegging and other forms of illegality will forever be in discussion.

In Nigeria, asides the drug boys, cross-carpeting countries with kilograms of powders and minute liquid substances in vials, and the corruption of highly placed politicians, fraud is the more accessible and easily perpetrated illegality that births money by the masses.

In the 70s and 80s, the term “419” was coined as a descriptive for the old fraud boys, off the section that punishes fraud under the old criminal laws of of Nigeria. The term became a staple of Nigerian expression and pop culture forever.

Internet birthed 'Yahoo boys' and 'G boys'

The emergence of the internet as a positive would also birth a negative — it abridged the gap of accessibility to the custodians of dollars, euros and pound war-chests across the western hemisphere.

The narrative was to change forever, and youth culture would never remain the same.

While 419 took courage and greater meticulousness and higher costs, yahoo — its internet-afforded offspring was easier and only needed negative influence, cheap internet accessibility and indirect peer pressure to increase its followers.

Since the turn of the millennium, more Nigerians under 30 than we care to admit have gone the dark part of Yahoo, but through it all, 419 has remained steadfast, albeit in underground hushed tunes, perpetrated by the courageous under the rebrand, 'fraud boys'.

Thus, there is a difference. While Yahoo and 419 are under the big umbrella of ‘fraud,’ Nigerian pop culture refers more to 419 activities as ‘fraud’ than ‘Yahoo’ or ‘G’.

So what is the difference?

Yahoo or G is more the internet based scamming arm of fraud. Though it might require some identity theft or faux images and even phone number foul play, it is mostly internet based.

Though yahoo boys might have now exceeded the usual standards of establishing fake relationships and cooking up sad stories online to outright military pension and entitlement theft, there’s still a difference.

419 or fraud is slightly more complex. It usually involves the face-to-face conversations that sell fake oil deals, undertake white collar crimes, classic art — that runs in 7 figures — theft or even straight digital bank robberies.

Let's just say fraud is slightly riskier.

Where a Yahoo boy is trying to convince some 62-year old white woman to ‘give it up,’ a fraud boy is chatting face-to-face with a 26-year old Dubai capitalist as an oil baron from Angola.

He is also showing his depth of knowledge and vast ideas to convince whoever is before him that he’s 'the real deal.'

In more pop culture friendly manner, if you want a strict difference; Danny Ocean from the Ocean’s Eleven or Neal Caffrey from White Collar would be fraud boys.

Whatever movie Odunlade Adekola plays a yahoo boy would be the example of a yahoo boy.

Fraud is far riskier than Yahoo and it requires greater depth and intelligence whereas, most Yahoo Boys can’t construct a simple, correct English sentence.

Asides the not-so-visible differences between a Yahoo boy and a fraud boy, there are the visible differences between them.

The shared, yet unspoken ideas in each faction is actually very baffling.

But before we examine them, we have to admit that sometimes, they can overlap.

Asides fundamental difference from their respective fields, here are the visible differences in appearance, culture, and character;

1.) Fraud boys nor dey shout like Yahoo Boys

80% of the time, you can pick a Yahoo boy out of a crowd. It seems there’s a standard they all adhere to from some mystical general mentality they all have in what is, ‘good’.

Where a Yahoo boy might dress in a very conspicuous way with gold chains, flashy props, most fraud boys are more of chameleons.

Part of his job description is the requirement to blend into crowds. Thus, fraud boys might also spend in clubs, but they don’t make blog news and attain social media notoriety like their G brothers.

Fraud boys also enjoy the flashy lifestyle, but they understand the gifts of minimalism. They’re also more polished.

This begs the question of why the general realities within each of these two factions share similarities. While Yahoo Boys adhere to a standard, Fraud boys also have theirs.

Fraud boys might also use crazy cars, but they give off the impression of noblemen than most Yahoo Boys.

On matters of character, fraud boys tend to be more laid back. You barely see a fraud boy with tinted hair or crazy jeans.

The flamboyantly stylish Nicky Barnes  (Sanjha Video)

Fraud boys are usually more Frank Lucas than Nicky Barnes.

Is it a part of the job description? Nobody knows.

2.) Fraud boys are generally richer than Yahoo Boys

Fraud boys might only make money three times in a year or even one time, but that payday off stealing people’s sweat and blood, throwing generations of their victims into penury shake banks or vaults.

The goal of fraud, but some have it more than others  (YouTube)

Some Yahoo Boys, however, make money daily or even weekly, but theirs are usually under one thousand dollars. Fraud boys tend to cash 8 figures in Dollars, Euros or Pounds at one go.

3.) Fraud boys are more unknowingly accepted in the society than Yahoo Boys

Fraud boys usually blend in and have cover jobs for when the ‘gods of fraud’ halt their rain of mercy. Society thus tends to be unsuspecting, at least till they’re seen blowing money fast in a strip club.

Due to how easily they can be discerned from regular people, Yahoo Boys are always perceived with cynicism, at least until people want money from them.

4.) Fraud boys are more vicious and vengeful than yahoo boys

To don’t want to cross a fraud boy.

While Yahoo Boys settle differences over cold drinks and even share same women and drink from the same cup, fraud boys are more like drug dealers when they’re offended.

They take disrespect and betrayal very seriously. They could also land their vicious gavel of gruesome deaths on whoever offends them.

Right, Real life Pablo Escobar Gaviria and Left, The Escobar on TV Show, "Narcos"  (Allocine)

A Yahoo boy does not even want to cross a fraud boy. When you think about a fraud boy in this light, think Pablo Escobar.

5.) You barely see real fraud Boys doing Yahoo, but Yahoo Boys dabble in fraud

For a Yahoo boy, fraud money is the ultimate. You could even retire early on one fraud payday. That is why Yahoo Boys dabble in fraud.

Fraud boys, on the other hand, see yahoo money as beneath them. What is $1000 to someone who has made $12 million at one go? Nothing.

Most fraud boys really don’t entertain the concept of Yahoo due to ego, but it’s mostly a human thing.

It’s like telling someone who has enjoyed Coutinho to manage Ozil in 2018. It’s not going to happen.

Davido finally reveals the BIG thing he plans to do with Atiku ahead 2019 Elections

Nigerian super star pop singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Saturday met with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Davido met with Atiku alongside his girlfriend, Chioma in his Abuja residence. The singer disclosed this on his Twitter page, hinting of big things to come.Alongside a picture with Atiku, he wrote; “Thank you for having us Sir.

“You all should be afraid of what I’m gonna do next.”

Recall that Davido performed at the PDP National Convention in Port Harcourt where Atiku emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.

Earlier in the week, the social media was agog with rumors of breakdown in the love relationship between Davido and Chioma, sequel to which the singer has been sharing photos of him and his girlfriend on various date outings.

Nigeria’s Davido gets on the political campaign trail

He’s the Nigerian star of Afropop, feted across Africa and the globe as a multi-millionaire singer-songwriter and record producer. But Davido – real name David Adedeji Adeleke – has recently been more focused on party politics and getting his uncle elected as governor of his home state of Osun this weekend.

Ademola Adeleke, dubbed “the dancing senator” because of his penchant for dancing in public, must be hoping his high-profile nephew can win him as many voters as he has music fans. The 58-year-old politician ran for the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Gboyega Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last gubernatorial election in Osun state.

Candidates from no fewer than 48 parties are vying to replace APC Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who is stepping down after a maximum of two four-year terms. Osun state gubernatorial poll was the final major electoral test before Nigerians vote for a new president, parliament, governors and state legislatures in February and March next year.

Davido’s intervention is undoubtedly the highlight of a state election that is being seen as test of President Muhammadu Buhari’s popularity in Nigeria’s southwest. The region, which includes Lagos, the country’s megacity of 20 million people, is a key electoral prize for any presidential hopeful and major political parties.

Political dynasty

Davido, who has become a common sight on the campaign trail, last weekend took star billing at a rally in his hometown of Ede, performing some of his most popular tunes. The 25-year-old artist is currently carrying out his yearlong compulsory national service – a far cry from the glitz and glamour of his private jet and a recent Africa tour.

He was pictured singing and dancing for fans on top of PDP vehicles in a field, delighting local party members and a throng of supporters.Billboards in the state also show pictures of the singer in traditional dress, leaning on an empty black leather chair next to the Nigerian flag.

“I, Davido, support Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun State,” the roadside advertisements read. While he may be better known as one of Nigeria’s most successful musical exports, Davido also comes from a well-known political dynasty.

His grandfather, Raji Ayoola Adeleke, was a senator between 1979 and 1983 while another uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, was Osun’s first civilian governor from January 1992 to November 1993.The performer’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, is a wealthy businessman with interests in banking, property, education, shipping, haulage and oil and gas.

Regardless of whether Davido swings it for the PDP, Nigeria’s authorities are taking no chances over security to ensure Saturday’s vote goes smoothly. The last gubernatorial vote in the southwestern state of Ekiti in July led to widespread concerns about vote-buying by leading political parties.

The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room coalition of civic groups said its monitors “observed widespread financial inducement and vote-buying in and around several of the polling units”.

The “brazenness” of the practice could undermine democracy, it added. The candidate of Buhari’s APC won the poll. Fear of political violence, which is never far from the surface in Nigeria, has also seen security reinforcements sent into Osun state.

Police said 40 000 officers, two helicopters, 30 armoured personnel carriers, 300 patrol vehicles and sniffer dogs have been deployed to ensure the poll is peaceful.Buhari, who is seeking a second term, has promised February’s election will be free, fair and safe.
